The Enrollment Race is On

Published in Untagged  by andrewbraner |

Just like every day when we get ready to hit the rivers, the bike trails, the lake, the mountains, and the various activities we have out here at KIVU, the Enrollment Race is on and ready for the summer 2010.

We've created an easy way for you to come and join us, RIGHT HERE ONLINE.

Kids are already signing up for summer 2010, and if you think it would benefit you to come and spend some time learning about the outdoors, solidifying your belief system, or just coming out to be a part of a community of God loving people, then it's time for you to reserve your spot.

The students who recognize their need to understand important lifeskills, connect with the God of the Universe, and spend time developing important relationship networks are already signing up in droves.

We don't want you to miss out.  So, go ahead and click on the REGISTRATION tab and start carving out your time to come and be a part of the KIVU movement.

Even though we're right in the middle of 2009, 2010 is right around the corner, and we're already beginning to plan for the GREATEST OPENING SEASON EVER!!

See you soon!

Follow Friday

Published in Untagged  by andrewbraner |

Isn't is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a community of like minded people?  We don't have to worry about people stealing stuff.  The mood here is that we all pitch in to help each other, and the general understanding is that we weep when our friends weep and rejoice when they rejoice.

That's what we're trying to create here at Camp KIVU.  We want to offer a year long opportunity for relationships to foster and grow, SO THAT; we can live life WITH each other, rather than AT each other.

The beauty is, from the top down, it's working.

We've got leadership that are serving at all different kinds of levels.  Our kitchen staff is producin gormet meals for the teenagers to enjoy.  Our teenagers are excited about being a part of the camp, rather than merely a participant.  It's the way life is supposed to be.

Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 12:12, "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. "

We believe in the BODY principle out here at KIVU.  We want to empower and encourage everyone who is a part of our community to allow their gift to bubble over the top, so the whole body might function in a better community.

I titled this blog follow friday because TWITTER has an ambiguous Follow Friday event.  I wonder if KIVU started to Follow Friday on our community portion, how much more effective we'd be, rather than simply just adding followers, we could have Follow Friday as an encouragement day.  Just a thought!! What do you guys think?

Being a Part of the Adventure

Published in Untagged  by andrewbraner |

110 profiles already.  WOW, what a place!!  Thanks for hanging out here at KIVU.  We've got a lot going on, and a vision that could take a lifetime, but we are committed to teenagers around the world.  We want to make sure they are ready to face the challenges of faith, create new adventures for them to experience, and develop a community of people who really care about one another at a deeper level of commitment.

Today was an incredible day out here in Durango Colorado, and there's sure a lot more in store for us tommorrow.

One thing we would ask, please continue to pray that God shines down His grace on us.  We know being out here is fun, but we also know that God has a plan in mind for us, and we want to make sure we're committed to humbling ourselves before Him as we move forward.

Thanks for your prayers, and I look forward to many more exciting adventures to share with you.

A Great First Term

Mt. Bikers at Ft. Lewis

The coolest thing about running with teenagers is their excitement for all the cool events they do.  These guys made it to the top of the Mesa, and had an awesome overlook of Durango the other day.

One of them said, "I love the fact that I can pray when I Mt. Bike now.  It's almost like a form of worship!"  Isn't that awesome?!

The first term is over, and second term is in full swing.  I miss the kids from first term, and I know many who are ready to return.  My inbox was full of messages encouraging our staff to keep on ministering to their generation.

Thanks to all who are registering online for 2010.  It's such a blessing to know that this little corner of Colorado is becoming a spiritual sanctuary for students around the country.

Keep telling your friends, and we'll begin the change the world needs to see.

The Beginning Has Begun

Published in Untagged  by andrewbraner |

It all began last Monday!  200 Teenagers showed up from all over the world, to experience the new freshness of Camp Kivu.  Everyone of them, as they walked through the gates, are starting their own personal journey of adventure both physically, and spiritually.

I'm so excited about our new site.  Feel free to browse around, create a profile, and start whatever conversation you desire.  What a great place where you can come and be a part of a community of people with a common goal, to Love God with all that's inside, and to Love our Neighbor.  Enjoy!!

It all Begins June 2009

Published in Camp Kivu by admin |

After 10 years under the Kanakuk Colorado banner, KIVU has finally come alive.  As of June 1, 2009 you can finally register for KIVU's first summer, and we've got some amazing plans.

We've already started planning for a trip to the Philippines in March where we've reserved a place at the lucious El Nido Resorts. Jamie Jo and I have been there for the last five years working with teenagers in the far east, and we want you to come and experience a cross cultural learning setting in the beautiful eco-park El Nido provides.

We're also working on plans for a gap year to start in 2010.  If you are a High School senior, and you're looking for a place to spend a year between graduation and your Freshman year in college, be looking for a BIG announcement where you'll be exposed to the Global Village through the lense of the Christian Worldview.

There's so much on the horizon, and God continues to give us a vision for more outdoor leadership programs, more ways to help you succeed as you begin to formulate life within whatever context you decide.

Come join us at KIVU in 2010, and get ready for a wonderful Journey as we seek to know the heart of God - together.

God Bless.

Andy
